Nut job has been sacked?

Blimey, breaking news on Sky. Chief Drug adviser sacked after claiming ecstasy and lsd were less dangerous than alcohol..

Apparently, Professor David Nutt, head of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, criticised the decision to reclassify cannabis to Class B from C.

He accused ministers of "devaluing and distorting evidence" and said drugs classification was being politicised.

Has he only just realised that they do that then? I thought these people were clever....

Last orders for traditional pint glass as search begins for alternatives!

The Home Office (although, what this has to do with them, frankly baffles me), has decided that far too many of us are smashing each other in the face and over the head with the traditional glass pint pot. It seems we can't be trusted with glass any longer!

Therefore, they are going to come up with an alternative "safer" (plastic) design. Why on earth they think that they have to intervene to such an extent is beyond ridicule.

Our Traditional Pint will be gone!

Again, Labour's policy is not to address the problem of why people are drinking to excess, (could it be that they are downright miserable and have been driven to it), but to come up with a solution to make everyone pay for those who DO drink themselves stupid!

Is this research taxpayer funded? I expect it is. Just another group or two of jobsworth added to the giant public service sector that is bleeding the working man dry! And now he can't even have a decent pint to wet his whistle!

Pathetic? Yep.

Quite true, but you don't expect to get one in a pub!
What about this one nanny?

Amend the Smoking Ban - Save Our Pubs

From the seemingly never tiring crusader Dick Puddlecote!

I know, I live in Spain and I am a smoker. I know the joy of lighting up in a smoking pub and enjoying the evening with friends. Pubs in Spain are thriving, so are restaurants and cafes. It's because here, the landlords have a choice. They can choose to be non smoking or smoking.

That's DEMOCRACY AND SOMETHING WE ARE LACKING IN THE UK!

Please spread the word!

GaGa

Has the world gone completely gaga? The new "swine flu" leaflet is available for download from the Department of Health in PDF format. It's an unbelievable 11 pages long full of valuable information on what to do if you have, err.. flu!

"Flu viruses are made up of tiny particles that can be spread through the droplets that come of your nose and mouth when you cough or sneeze.

When you cough or sneeze without covering your nose and mouth with a tissue, those droplets can spread and others will be at risk of breathing them in.

If you cough or sneeze into your hand, those droplets and the germs in them are then easily spread from your hand to any hard surfaces that you touch, and they can live on those surfaces for some time. Everyday items such as door handles, computers keyboards, mobile and ordinary phones and the TV remote control are all common surfaces where flu viruses can be found.

If other people touch these surfaces and then touch their faces, the germs can enter their systems and they can become infected. That's how all cold and flu viruses, including swine flu are passed on from person to person".

Well, I knew none of that, I am truly educated and enlightened now, thanks Gov!

They even have one of those natty little rhymes for remembering what to do....

BIN IT, INIT?

But, best of all... they suggest you set up a network... so come on, who wants to be my "flu friend"

I think I'm going to throw up.

This leaflet is a complete waste of time and money.

FFS!

Let's get some perspective on this. Out of an estimated world population of  6,706,993,152 people, this is the map of reported cases and deaths in the world.

I Can't Stop Laughing!

PUT THE MOVIE ON AND READ THE POST

I can't believe what I'm reading, I just can't stop laughing and I know it's not funny but I don't know what else to say.

"MINISTERS are to introduce new “human rights” covering housing, healthcare and education in a move critics fear could lead to a massive and costly expansion of the welfare state.

Plans for the new bill of rights will be unveiled tomorrow by Jack Straw, the justice secretary.

He will suggest that new entitlements such as rights to good healthcare, education and freedom from poverty could be added to traditional freedoms such as trial by jury and free speech.

The new rights would be offset by responsibilities, such as a duty to look for work in return for receiving benefits or to look after one’s children"

They're all nuts! I look forward to your comments as usual!

Britain and Traditional Ways

Reading Ross Clarks analysis on the “booze culture” in Britain got me thinking. I live in Spain and we don’t have the culture of getting completely legless here, unless it’s holidaymaking Brits of course. The pubs close when the landlord feels he’s had enough, some stay open until 1am, some later. This is how pubs have always operated in Europe, this is what they are used to.

He’s right in what he says about the nanny culture in Britain being hypocritical. For a government that attempts to control every aspect of ours lives including our children, for some insane reason, relaxing boozing and gambling laws was deemed acceptable.

Drinking and Gambling Laws have been relaxed in Airstrip One. Why?  Is it the EU dictating that we all have to work the same way or is it purely revenue driven? I must admit I am confused.

We have all heard the saying “If it ain’t broken then don’t fix it” in this case, the pub scenario comes to mind. We had a pub culture that essentially thrived before nanny interfered. There was the public bar for the “men” and the lounge for women and couples. Some also had a garden or family room. I still remember the “off sales”, a little cubby within the pub where my dad would send me to get his cigarettes when he ran out. If we returned to the traditional layout, we could easily use the public bars as smoking areas and the lounges as non smoking.

A few years ago, our pub system worked. The landlord called last orders at 10 to 11 and at 11 he called time. We inevitably felt the evening ended too early, but we accepted that this was the way things were. If we wanted to go on drinking, there were numerous nightclubs that were open until 2am, we could go back to someone house and continue, or there were lockups where we knew the landlord was cool.

In his article, Ross Clark implies that “more education” is needed. The same sort of education that smoking has received. Of course that’s crap, it’s just more nannying. People are sick of re-education. It’s bordering on brain washing and it’s not healthy for the mind, body or soul

Has it occurred to anyone that all the rules and re-education might actually be driving people to drink? The latest figures show that, in the UK in 2007, there were 34 million prescriptions for anti-depressants, now that’s not normal. People are genuinely pissed off and can you blame them?

Everything that this government has done, has undone the traditional systems we had in place for years, systems that dictated who the British were. We are an island and evolved a culture which was our own, one that was separate from the Europeans.

Parents and teachers were allowed to discipline children and the local bobby could “clip you round the ear” if you stepped out of line, indeed, a neighbour was allowed to tell you off without being taken to court! The discipline instilled in you as a child was carried through to adulthood. It taught you control and self respect.

People haven’t changed, laws have and there are far too many of them. Too many databases and too much interference.

We are continually fighting to keep our traditional way of life, our imperial weights, our currency and our customs. The Conservatives would do well to look into the past for answers for the future if they are to change behaviour patterns or they will only deteriorate. We can always take little steps from there.

Bloody Scientists

Susan Greenfield (aka Susan Adele Greenfield, Baroness Greenfield) is a member of the House of Lords. If you put in a search for her name, her presence is conspicuous in as much as it always seems to be connected with "children and how bad computers are for them".

Todays story in The Daily Mail is no exception "Social websites harm children's brains: Chilling warning to parents from top neuroscientist" She claims social networking sites shorten attention spans??? I don't about you but when I watch kids on bebo or facebook their concentration and attention is so focused, you can hardly get any dinner down them!

Stupid woman, social networking sites have helped many children who would not normally have made friends on the outside. They teach a child how to socialise on so many levels. Anyway, I personally think that many parents would rather see their kids on facebook than out in the street as part of a gang.

A quick scan of Amazon... and wouldn't you know it. She has a book thats just been published early.

Got you sussed, now bugger off!

New Jobs Created

I just saw an announcement on Sky News. Thousands of jobs are being created by Asda and SkyBsB.

I thought the jobs created were going to be good ones, these are crap jobs!

I have to assume one thing from this announcement.

People no longer go to pubs to socialise because of the smoking ban and because they are a rip off. Instead, they're all nipping down to Asda to get their beer and pringles to go home to watch endless repeats of "The Astronaut Farmer" on Movies Premier.

Incidentally that also pisses me off as I thought the premier channel was meant to play new movies and The Astronaut Farmer is a 2006 film!

The premise that the non smoking and taxation was meant to be for our well being has only achieved completely the opposite goal, infact it's done more damage!

All we have ended up with is more unemployed, fat bastards sitting at home stuffing their faces watching the TV!!!

If I were a conspiracy theorist I would be wondering whether this was the plan.

Subliminal messages during The X Factor and Big Brother perhaps (blipverts) and the constant bombardment of government health warnings in the advert breaks. Is the plan to keep us all insulated and locked up in our homes for fear of being stabbed by a hoodie? Is this why the campaign to stop knife crime is a failure?

Are the government afraid that if we all meet regularly enough for a drink at our locals that we may just get angry enough to cause them some bother?

Am I imagining things or could life have really got that sinister!
