Fag Packets Change!

Ministers want to see if changing the appearance of cigarette packets could deter children from taking up smoking.

Health Secretary Andrew Lansley said: "We have to try new approaches and take decisions to benefit the population. "it makes sense to consider having less attractive packaging".

That should do it!

I fucking hate Belgians and the EU!

From Taking Liberties

"The EU court in Luxembourg has lodged two anti-smoking cases which could, in theory, lead to a ban on the sale of tobacco products across the EU

They also ask the court to examine if the sale of tobacco products goes against the Lisbon Treaty, the Charter of Fundamental Rights and the UN's 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child".

I'll move from the EU if I have to. Who the fuck do these people think they are? Oh yes, it's the DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT OF THE EU!

Tell you what, FUCK OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE YOU BUNCH OF NAZI CUNTS!

An Appeal on Behalf of Frank Davis

An appeal from Frank Davis:

"Last night I posted up a piece which was, in part, about the social isolation and disintegration that I thought the smoking ban was causing. This evening, among the responses, there was the following anonymous message:"

I am getting too old to stand outside pubs or restaurants. Plus I was taught that it was only 'ladies of the night' that stood in the street smoking.

I have been 3 years away from any social contact other than the odd hello with neighbours.

Being a widow with no family it was always going to be hard to get back into some semblance of normality with regard to socialising, but I didn't think that it would be this bad.

I used to meet up in a cafeteria with some lady friends, but now that has stopped as a few of the ladies were smokers and didn't want to stand in the street to have a cigarette.

I went to a quiz night at the local pub as there were quite a few elderly 'singles' there. That has stopped. I also playe bingo once a week and that too has stopped as there is no pleasure in having a drink there with no cigarette.

I am now on anti depressants and wish that I had the courage to kill myself and join my dear husband.

Thank you politicians for making my life not worth living after working from age 14 until 68. I am now 74 and have lost my soul and will to live in this lonely place.

"Nothing needs to be added. Here in a nutshell is the social devastation caused by the smoking ban. It falls most heavily, of course, on the elderly.

I think these stories must be told. There must be thousands upon thousands - millions even - of people all over the country, and all over the world, in much the same situation. People who had their social lives destroyed. People who have become profoundly isolated and depressed as a consequence of smoking bans.

Our politically correct news media will never report any of it. They won't report it because for them smokers are non-persons, people who don't count. So it's only going to be on blogs like mine that such people are going to find a voice.

So I'd like to appeal to my readers, particularly the elderly (65-70+) and vulnerable ones like my anonymous commenter, to write to me to describe their personal experiences of the smoking ban. I'm interested in younger readers' experiences as well, of course.

And I'd like to ask readers if they know any elderly and vulnerable people who may have become isolated. Phone them up! Pop round and see them! Ask them how life has been for them. Get them to tell their story.

I'm sure there are thousands and thousands of horror stories out there, that need telling, and which antismokers would prefer never get told at all. When the stories start being told - and they will be told -, they might begin to feel ashamed of what they've done.

I've set up a googlemail account: cfrankdavis@googlemail.com

Emails are welcome from all over the world, but since this a UK blog, non-UK writers should give some indication where they are, and what sort of ban is in force where they live.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Please get in touch with Frank if you think you can help or leave a message in the comments here and I'll see that he gets it.

Please consider re-blogging this appeal so that we can all give Deborah Arnott and her sick, greedy, freedom fucking fucktards a taste of their own medicine".

With thanks to G.O.T. for the heads up.

Talking of Convenient Criminals

Pub Landlord Nick Hogan – Jailed over No-smoking Ban.

Copied Directly from Anna Raccoons

"There has been a fair amount of comment in the blogosphere regarding the six month jail sentence given to Nick Hogan for flouting the ‘no-smoking ban’.

We have to raise £10,000 to get the poor man out of prison! He should not be there.

Please nip over to Anna's on ways of donating to this fund... it can't take long to get together 10K

From the Telegraph "Gordon Brown has set out new measures to tackle anti-social behaviour as he put the fight against the fear of crime and yobbery at the heart of the general election battle".

Oh yes, what election campaign "A future Fair for All"

Obviously if Mr Hogan had been a copper or a cocaine dealer (or preferably both), he'd have had a suspended sentence!

Donation Points at Anna Raccoons and Old Holborns

Let's get the poor man out and spit in the eye of Government!!!! Bunch of C*nts!

Amend the Smoking Ban - Save Our Pubs

From the seemingly never tiring crusader Dick Puddlecote!

I know, I live in Spain and I am a smoker. I know the joy of lighting up in a smoking pub and enjoying the evening with friends. Pubs in Spain are thriving, so are restaurants and cafes. It's because here, the landlords have a choice. They can choose to be non smoking or smoking.

That's DEMOCRACY AND SOMETHING WE ARE LACKING IN THE UK!

Please spread the word!

Bring back the Smoking Pub.

The Daily Mail features a story on the Cutting Edge Pub in Barnsley today. A customer of the landlady, Kerry Fenton found a legal loophole in the no smoking act.The Cutting Edge Pub is now a "smoking research centre". Kerry's business was struggling to survive. She said: 'Before our research centre opened we were lucky to get 10 people in at a weekend. It's certainly given business a shot in the arm and it's all in the name of research, legal and above board. On Friday we had 29, on Saturday 31 and on Sunday 46 customers in the tap room.'

Mr Martin, a printer, who discovered the legal loophole said: 'I wanted to have a pub to smoke in before they all closed down. I studied details of the act closely, we drew up the questionnaires and it's taken off in a big way.

'I have already had enquiries from other pubs about introducing research centres and I'm expecting many more to join in.'

Kerry is a non smoker herself but believes her customers should have freedom of choice and asks them to put 50p in a charity box for a donation for cancer research.

The local council, which is responsible for enforcing the ban on smoking in public places, is also looking into the matter.

Simon Frow, Barnsley Council's head of Regulatory Services, said: 'The Cutting Edge is quite clearly not a research or test facility and as such is not exempt under the legislation quoted as an attempted "get out" clause.

'Therefore, the law requiring it to be smokefree applies and we will be enforcing it.'

Of course, the first thing that is going to happen is the authorites will close the loophole and Kerry will get fined £2500

It is thoroughly disgraceful that people have to stoop to this level in order to exercise their freedom of choice. The mere fact that the number of Kerry's customers quadrupled when she opened the pub as a research centre shows that the research the government has put forward is false.

Pubs are not closing because alcohol is being highly taxed or because of the recession.

They are closing at a phenomenal rate because of the smoking ban. It's about time that someone rebelled against this inane law and staged a "sit and smoke in".

Labour are no better than Islamic Jihadists.

This story from the Daily Nation caught my eye this morning. Ironic how "lefties" no matter which country they dictate, love to order the proles around!

As far as I am concerned, NuLabour are no better than the "Islamists authority in Dhobley town at the border between Somalia and Kenya who on Sunday announced a total prohibition of miraa (khat) chewing and cigarette smoking in the area.

Area residents have consequently been ordered to refrain from trading in both commodities.

The authority of the area, which is next to the Kenyan town of Liboi, has also outlawed all kinds of drugs and warned of heavy punishment against any kind of defiance.

Mr Tayib Mohamed, the top Islamist official in the area, emphasised the seriousness of his administration in enforcing the ban on khat, cigarettes and any substance containing drugs".

Punishment is no doubt a public stoning, beating or perhaps even death!

G20 Delegates Immune from Smoking Ban

Update : The Daily Mail has got hold of the story now :) Oh Good, if anyone can blow it all out of proportion, they can!

Labour has been accused of double standards for amending legislation to allow world leaders to use smoking rooms during the G20 economic conference. Dozens of heads of state, politicians and diplomats will be meeting at the Excel Exhibition Centre in Docklands, London, next month. It is believed that laws have been changed to get around the smoking ban and provide specialist rooms that the visiting dignitaries can use.

Smoking in all enclosed public spaces and places of work was banned under the Health Act 2006, and came into force in England in 2007. It is not clear which Government department has amended the law for the venue or whether is only a temporary measure. But the Foreign and Common Office, who is hosting the event, said it was aware of the smoking rooms and has launched an investigation.

Local authority Newham Council is also looking into the matter as environmental health officers in charge were not aware of the amendment. Critics say the Government is flouting the ban and should apply the same concession to struggling businesses.

Smoking campaign group Freedom2choose chairman Andy Davis said: 'This clearly demonstrates that there are alternative solutions to the current smoking ban that our government is ignoring. 'Smoking rooms would provide welcome relief for our hospitality industry with the ban being acknowledged as one of the major factors in its current downturn. 'Our government is accommodating the political leaders from across the globe, yet they are not prepared to accommodate millions of their own citizens.

'This concession should now be made available to all private businesses and clubs for them to adopt if they so desire.' Conservative MP Anne Widdecombe said: 'It's one law for one, and one for another, and I think that sums up this Government.'

Unbelievable, I just read Dick Puddlecote's blog and he says the smoking ban is being lifted for the G20 summit. I'm bloody gobsmacked.

Dick has the full story here

What hypocrisy! This is SO not right. They're getting a smoking lounge! While the rest of the UK are ordered not to smoke ANYWHERE and pubs and clubs are closing... these fucking hyprocrites are getting a smoking lounge.

Are we stupid plebs or what?

Facebook

I joined the Facebook Campaign supporting disclosure of MP's expenses a couple of days ago and emailed everyone I knew to do the same.

It seems in the light of the Conservatives, LibDems and others the Government has now backed down.

I am also joining the "Bring back Smoking in Pubs Campaign" on Facebook as I believe we all deserve freedom of choice.

On average, 4 pubs a week are closing. That means people are going out of business and being made unemployed. The Government should be trying to ease this situation, not make it worse!

It's goal is to reach 1 million members and already has 575,194.

If you believe in living in a democracy you should support this cause.
