Immigration Mythology

I truly believe that if our governments' had controlled immigration the last few decades, then we would not be in the mess we are in now.

My old Grammar School

The failure of Nulabour and the continued failure of the coalition to ensure that the country was/is prepared for millions of extra people has added to the misery and hardship of many British families. Many feel marginalised and ignored. Most of them won't/can't say anything for fear of being branded a racist. I am not one of them. Immigration destroyed the borough in which at least 6 generations of my family had lived and worked. It scattered my family far and wide, some to Essex, others journeyed south. It destroyed my culture and way of life and was replaced by Londonistan and Eastenders. My family history has been denied my children and grandchildren.

Teenage Haunt

To say I feel resentful and bitter is an understatement. Other indigenous cultures have rights, Cockneys have/had none. Even travellers are given more respect than the original inhabitants of East London.

This WAS my home before it was invaded

1. Introduction

This paper outlines the many myths that are put forward by the mass immigration lobby in support of the current levels of immigration and dispels each myth in turn.

2. ‘Immigration provides great economic benefit’

For many years the government claimed that immigration added £6 billion a year to GDP. However, the House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee[1], reporting in April 2008, said that what mattered was GDP per head. They concluded that:

“We have found no evidence for the argument, made by the government, business and many others, that net immigration generates significant economic benefits for the existing UK population”.
In January 2012 the Migration Advisory Committee[2] went further. They said that even GDP per head exaggerated the benefit of immigration because:

“It is the immigrants themselves rather than the extant residents who are the main gainers”.
They suggested that the GDP of residents should be the main focus.

They recognised that the resident population would gain via any “dynamic effects” of skilled immigration on productivity and innovation – these “exist and may be large, but they are elusive to measure”.

3. ‘Immigrants are no problem as they work hard and pay taxes’

Many do work hard but the impact on the budget is very small. According to the House of Lords Economic Committee “the fiscal impact [of immigration] is small compared to GDP and cannot be used to justify large-scale immigration”.

It should also be noted that many immigrants pay very little tax since only those who earn more than £25,700 a year pay net tax. (MAC, 5.6[3])

4. ‘Britain is only the 39th most crowded country in the world’

93% of immigrants go to England so England is what matters in this context. Together with Holland, England is the sixth most crowded country in the world if you exclude islands and city states.

5. ‘The public are not really as opposed to immigration as they seem’

In a major government survey[4] conducted over a two year period 2008-2010, 75% of respondents said that they would like to see immigration reduced, 51% by a lot. A majority of the Asian community also thought that there were too many immigrants in Britain.[5]

6. ‘Population projections are unreliable’

Projections become less reliable as the length of the projection period increases. However, over the last 50 years, the ONS have been accurate to +/- 2½% in their projections over a 25 year period.

7. ‘The government’s immigration target is unachievable because EU and British migration cannot be controlled’

The major source of net migration is from outside the European Union and has averaged about 200,000 a year over the past ten years. These flows are capable of control by the government.

8. ‘Net migration of 150,000 per year would be satisfactory’

On the contrary, immigration on this scale would simply postpone the population reaching 70 million by 4 years to 2031, after which the population would continue to rise sharply.[7]

9. ‘The NHS would collapse without immigrants’

Probably, but no one is suggesting that they should be expelled. In fact, even at the peak of arrivals, medical staff were never more than 5% of immigration. The reason they were needed is that we failed to train our own staff. Other major countries in Europe have only about 5 or 6% of foreign qualified doctors, whereas we have more like 30%.[8]

10. ‘Migrants do not take social housing’

It is often said that migrants do not occupy social housing. While most do live in private rentals, official data shows that in 2010-11, 8.4 percent of social housing in England is occupied by non-UK nationals.[9]

11. ‘Immigrants are needed to pay our pensions’

This is a ludicrous argument which even the Labour government dropped. The reality is that immigrants themselves grow older so that there would have to be a continuing and increasing inflow of immigrants to have any long-term effect. The Turner Commission[10] on pensions put it like this:

“Only high immigration can produce more than a trivial reduction in the projected dependency ratio over the next 50 years”
They calculated that even net migration of 300,000 a year would produce only a temporary effect unless still higher levels of immigration continued in later years.

12. ‘Immigration has no effect on jobs’

The Migration Advisory Committee reported in January 2012 that 100 additional non-EU migrants might be associated with a reduction in employment of 23 native workers over the period 1995-2010. (This faded over 5 years and did not apply to EU workers). There is considerable anecdotal evidence of job displacement in key sectors such as construction, hospitality and retail.

13. ‘Immigration makes no different to wages’

According to the Migration Advisory Committee the majority of studies estimate that migrants have little impact on average wages but there is an impact on wage distribution in the UK. The majority of studies find that migrants increased wages at the top of the wage distribution but reduced them at the bottom. (para 4.82.9).

14. ‘Curbing immigration would prevent the Nobel winners of the future migrating to the UK’

It is often said that curbing migration means that the next Nobel laureates would be unable to reach British shores. There is no evidence to back this up. The first Nobel prizes were awarded in 1901 with the first Nobel Prize being awarded to a Briton the following year. Since the inception of the Nobel Prize, there have been 97 winners from Britain. Of those 97, 20 were born abroad, of which 7 had British heritage i.e. their parents were British. Of the remaining 13, 5 came to the UK as refugees and the remaining 8 came to the UK to continue with their academic careers with the exception of one who came to study his undergraduate degree in the UK. Therefore, not one Nobel Laureate would have conceivably have been prevented from coming to the UK as a result of the kind of immigration controls now proposed.

UTTERLY GOBSMACKING

Words fail me, they really do. What an utter rip off this club is. What we could do with all that money in the UK.

"After taking account of the UK abatement, the UK's total contribution to the EU Budget in June was £577,749,731.10.
This consisted of two payments the first on 1 June (VAT-based and GNI-based contributions less the UK abatement), the second on 20 June (Traditional Own Resources)".

Just another quick note. Taking into consideration the cuts in the armed and police forces, we citizens of the United Kingdom need the right to bear arms. A government's first duty is to protect it's citizens (not through snooping I might add) and this government is failing in it's duty.

Cutting the armed forces is effectively passing another competence to the EU. We have not been asked if we want to amalgamate our forces with those of France et al. I would have voted NO by the way. We cannot afford to trust anybody, especially deceptive, corrupt organisations like the U.N. and E.U.

The EU tells Britons what they really think of us!

Something stinks in the state of England

By email from UK COLUMN

BRITISH CONSTITUTION GROUP CHAIRMAN ROGER HAYES ARRESTED, CHARGED, TRIED IN SECRET BRITISH COURT AND IMPRISONED

Press release by UK Column Monday 2 Jul 2012 Time 21:10 BST - http://www.ukcolumn.org/ - Tel: +44 1752 478050

At 0930 this morning, in scenes reminiscent of Stasi East Germany, 2 police cars and 4 policemen from Merseyside Police arrested British Constitution Group Chairman Roger Hayes at his Wirral home and drove away.

The first his family heard of him was at 18:30 this evening via a telephone call from a Warder in Liverpool prison, to say that Roger had been tried and sentenced to prison.

At no time were the family or any other members of the public informed of his arrest, and it is understood that he was tried in a secret court without a Jury.

Denied the right to argue his case, denied the right to a Jury, denied the right for the public to see justice being done, Roger was imprisoned in the secretive gulag system that Britain has become in 2012.

Roger's "crime" is that he has been refusing to pay his Council tax, because along with other state taxes, a proportion of the tax revenue gathered is being sent to the European Union, used to fund unlawful wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya and Syria, and promote terrorism right around the world. To pay tax under these circumstances is, at the very least, unlawful under Section 15(3) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

As such the present government of UK in Westminster is complicit to terrorist action and war crimes and therefore the payment of taxes to an unlawful, criminal regime is itself a criminal act - one in which Roger refused to participate.

In addition to his stance on taxes for unlawful purposes, Roger has also been campaigning for the Lawful Bank - a monetary initiative in which money can be issued to the public as credit, rather than as crippling debt under the existing corrupt and fraudulent International Monetary System.

As Chairman of the British Constitution Group, Roger Hayes has been an outspoken public speaker warning the British public that their rights and freedoms under Common Law and the Constitution are being stripped away and replaced by a dictatorship of secret courts operating under Administrative and Statute Law.

There is no doubt that his success in alerting ever more people to the dangers of the British / EU dictatorship being built by a criminal element now masquerading as British politicians, has caused the State to imprison Roger. His challenge to the fraudulent banking system, as evidenced by the criminal acts of Barclays bank and todays resignation by arch Bilderberger and BBC advisor Marcus Agius, will also have made Roger enemies within Britain's wide criminal banking cabal.

Roger's family are shocked both at his arrest, and at the realisation that Britain is now sliding into a police state, where husbands, fathers and other good people can be lifted off the streets and imprisoned. There is now no doubt that Britain is further under the control of domestic terrorists in Westminster.

We ask that all those who value their freedoms and liberty call Meryside Police for further information and an explanation of their actions, and also call Liverpool prison to establish Roger's physical safety and well-being.

Merseyside Police Tel: 101 local or +44 (0)151 709 6010 in UK.

Liverpool Prison Tel: +44 (0)151 530 4000

Crimestoppers (UK only) Tel: 0800 555 111

I have no comment to make as yet but if the above is true then our legal system has become well and truly corrupt.

Musings of an Insomniac

I'm lying here awake as usual and the TV is still on. I'm watching events happening somewhere on the other side of the world which I really don't care about. The Middle Eastern Awakenings don't interest me. As far as I'm concerned, we should not get involved AT ALL. These are internal conflicts that have nothing to do with democracy. These societies are tribal and these are third world civil wars declared by savages. If the West hadn't invented modern weapons, they would still be throwing spears at each other.

That we particularly interfere, irks me. All it means is, that another group of nutters will be invading our country to either sponge from our benefits system as asylum seekers while another will try to blow us to kingdom come. In the process, the British Taxpayer has the privilege of paying for wasters like William Hague sticking his nose in where it is not wanted. Ultimately it might mean sacrificing more of our troops in the name of "giving the savages democracy" while we have ours ripped away by the Soviet Eutopia.

The EU is "appalled" and "slams" the government for killing its own people. It doesn't occur to them, they are indirectly doing the same to their own people. Using warfare is not the only way to ethnically cleanse a "tribe".
The UK Government has been doing it to the English for decades.

The Eurocrats are slowly driving many Europeans to the point of poverty and suicide while systematically stripping us of any rights we have left. They control the media, so most ordinary people don't even know what is happening. Where is the outrage at the way Greeks are being treated on Sky News? Where is the footage of Greeks queuing at soup kitchens on the BBC? You won't see it. It's not the "truth" they want you to see.

We have yet another deadline for Greece. 11 o'clock Monday morning. The Greek Government have to agree to make life even worse for their people. The troika are even insisting that wages are curbed in the private sector. What on earth have private companies' wages got to do with them?

Update : Goalposts changed again "Greece must tell the European Union by the end of today" SOURCE

Update : Goalposts changed again : "A government official, , who declined to be named said the parties did not have to respond by today and there was "no deadline" SOURCE

Secretly the Greeks must know, the EU can't let them default. Why?

It will do considerable damage to European Banks, especially French and German ones but Merkozy made the decision to keep throwing money at Greece. If the Greeks default and reinstate a national currency, they will be able to apply to the IMF for help. The IMF helps countries in distress but not currencies (so Georgie keeps telling us).

Things will be very rough for a while but then they will begin to recover ....... and that's one thing that the EU can't risk everyone witnessing.

Christmas Bells

I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old, familiar carols play,
    And wild and sweet
    The words repeat
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
    Had rolled along
    The unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Till ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
    A voice, a chime,
    A chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

Then from each black, accursed mouth
The cannon thundered in the South,
    And with the sound
    The carols drowned
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

It was as if an earthquake rent
The hearth-stones of a continent,
    And made forlorn
    The households born
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!

And in despair I bowed my head;
“There is no peace on earth,” I said;
    “For hate is strong,
    And mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good-will to men!”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
    The Wrong shall fail,
    The Right prevail,
With peace on earth, good-will to men.”

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1864)

May next year bring us peace, prosperity and freedom from the accursed Dictatorship,

Clearly they are superior to us plebs!

I couldn't help but notice that Britons are getting fucked yet again by that big fat "Green taxes con".. Part of the EU's DIRECT TAXATION methinks.

Anyhow, the story here

"HOLIDAY costs are set to soar following a controversial EU green tax being levied on airlines. A family of four now face an extra £80 to fly to the US following a Brussels ruling on carbon emissions, set to come into force on January 1. Yesterday the European Court of Justice imposed a new carbon-trading rule on airlines using any airport within the European Union".

No, I wouldn't prefer Disney World Paris to Disney World in Orlando! For one thing, it's full of the French, who I don't particular like... (who does?).. and for another, the weather in Florida is a huge bonus (although the smoking area's wouldn't make me particularly happy). I'd probably put up with them for the kids. Thankfully, we went years ago when flights were cheap and smokers weren't treated like lepers.

I digress...

I was just reading an interview Dan Hannan gave to Russia Today here

The bit that particularly peeved me was when he said  "It's extraordinary that my favorite story of the last commission is that Herman van Rompuy and Jose Manuel Barroso flew to the same summit in Russia in separate private jets, leaving Brussels within 4 hours of each other. Austerity is for the street ..."

Yes. It certainly is, do I say and not as I do!

BOTH UNELECTED, UNDEMOCRATIC, GREEDY PARASITES
WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE EU!

Do I just ask awkward questions?

I like John Redwoods Blog. To give him his due, he seems one of the most sincere of all the "Eurosceptic" MP's. I'm guessing he's a pretty nice bloke too and appears to be of superior intelligence to most of the others. I do take the opportunity to ask the awkward questions on his posts just to see what the response is.

He always publishes and answers me, eventually....

Here's a good piece by Mick Hume in Spiked

Europe united - in denial and myth-making

Almost everything we’ve been told about the ‘historic’ Euro-crisis summit is wrong. Here are five Euro-myths for starters.

Euro-myth No 1: ‘It was a triumph for Cameron – or Sarkozy’
Euro-myth No 2: ‘It was a national disaster for Britain, now isolated from Europe’
Euro-myth No 3: ‘Europe is now united behind a plan to tackle its crisis’
Euro-myth No 4: ‘Germany - it’s 1939 all over again!’

It's no 5 that is most telling and those of you who think Cameron's "veto" is some sort of triumph should never forget. Our spineless leaders are Europhiles and the only way we'll ever leave the EU is if we force the issue.

Euro-myth No 5: ‘The UK coalition is on the brink of collapse over Europe’

"That seems unlikely – and even if it were to happen, the current alternatives on offer would be little better in terms of democracy. Since Cameron’s return from the summit, the Tory prime minister and his Lib Dem deputy Nick Clegg have each been playing to their core support in parliament by staging mock set-piece battles over their slightly different attitudes to the EU. Meanwhile, the Labour opposition has called on the Lib Dems to leave the ‘Eurosceptic’ Conservatives and form a ‘real’ pro-Europe coalition with them.

This elite manoeuvring represents little more than an extension of the anti-democratic politics of Brussels into domestic affairs. (Indeed, it is always worth reminding ourselves that it was the decay of their idea of democracy within the nation state that led the European elites to seek refuge in the EU institutions in the first place.) None of the UK party leaderships is willing to offer the British people any say on our future in Europe, all of them remain adamantly opposed to any referendum, and none of them wants an election. However upset they may be with Cameron’s non-diplomacy, the Lib Dems want to hang onto their seats in government for the full five-year term; like all non-political politicians today, they hold no principle higher than their hold on power.

Far more than any isolation in Europe, it is their isolation from the people they are supposed to represent that has the political elites clinging together behind the Westminster drawbridge. In the unlikely event that the current coalition did fall, what difference would it make? Democracy has to involve more than just a vote – like being offered a choice between political alternatives for the future of the UK and Europe. What we need is not just the collapse or reconstitution of a coalition in parliament, but the emergence of political conflicts that mean something in society.

All in all, as the diplomatic dust settles from the Brussels summit, it becomes clear that there is more continuity than change so far. Europe still appears to be heading for an economic depression, while European democracy is heading for political bankruptcy. And Britain is not ‘isolated’ from either of those crises. There are no easy solutions on offer. But it might be a start if we could kick out the Euro-myths"

Confused? So was I

In my search to find the truth about this "treaty" and "veto" after desperately reading EU Documents, blogs (left, right and illiberal), I have finally gone back to my "trusted sites". There aren't many, too many people are quick to jump to conclusions as they read the headlines in the press. My trust in the political structures that exist everywhere in the world have a zero rating and when things sounds too good to be true, they normally are.

So, what have we got? A summit? Nope, it was a meeting. A treaty? Nope, it was an agreement. A veto? Nope, he just disagreed with everyone else.

Dr Richard North and David at WfW usually put me right but being the dunce that I am, I needed someone to speak to me like one.... :) so, I shot over to Dr Helen Szamuely's blog "Your Freedom and Ours". She explains things so that even I can understand what is happening and I must say... If we don't take steps to leave the EU and soon, we are pretty well fucked!

She writes "So far from repatriating powers, which can be done only through a new treaty that the Boy-King has rejected (not vetoed, just rejected) he has lost any possibility of vetoing whatever speedy conclusions will come out of the forthcoming negotiations for a new agreement"

This has got to be the biggest betrayal and conspiracy that our government have ever planned against us. SO STOP CHEERING CAMERON ON AND WAKE UP!

A dark cloud has settled above my soul!

I caught Mary Ellen Synon's post coming up on my DemonFeed a while ago and as I read it, a dark cloud settled above my soul. So chilling is her post that I'm inclined to think every word will come to pass. Please read it... we really have to do something.

"Actually trying to get a wholesale treaty change through would trigger at least one referendum. And given how people – French, Dutch, Irish, all of them members of the euro – vote when given a chance to do so, I’d say the chances of treaty change of this magnitude getting through are slim to zero.

So there will be no big-time treaty change because there must be no referendum. Which doesn’t mean there won’t be big-time change. Up until today, the phrase the eurocrats and Brussels elite have been using – and using it so much in harmony that they were clearly sent the memo reminding them to use the phrase – was ‘limited treaty change.’

That ‘limited’ is a weasel word. As I’ve pointed out before, everything is limited except cosmic expansion and mother love, so saying treaty change would be ‘limited’ is meaningless.

But it’s subtext was: too minor to merit a referendum, so we will change the treaties by the self-amending mechanism laid out in the Lisbon Treaty, and no you don’t know about that mechanism because it wasn’t much advertised. That subtext was blown apart today".

"What we saw today in Paris was an announcement by Merkozy that they intend to go ahead with their drive to destroy democracy across 17 European states. By agreeing to this -- and he will -- Mr Cameron will act as collaborator in establishing Germany and France as the fiscal commanders over these nations of Europe.

Across Europe, one can only feel dread. In Britain, one ought to feel shame as well"

PLOTTING & SCHEMING - I thought things were just too quiet this week.

EU CRISIS BOMBSHELL: HOW THE EUROZONE PLANS TO SELL US OUT TO THE BANKS

I have no reason to doubt John's word on this. He has been correct in most of his assumptions and blog posts in the last year or so that I've been reading them. I only hope my little voice and blog will help spread his warning.

We are about to get sold out to the banks again. As Johns says : "Now of course, this is far from being a done deal – and if we get this news around the blogosphere (especially on the European mainland) as quickly as possible, it might turn into a self-denying prophecy"

"I would ask all who agree with the analysis – and fear this plan coming to pass – to broaden awareness of it as quickly as possible. As you know, the Guardian and the US are particular problems for me, as my comments are largely banned there. But any help anywhere with anyone to get this scam out there would be good. Thanks in advance"
