Film 4

Just watching "Equilibrium" on TV. It's one of those 1984 type movies.

Wiki says :
In a futuristic world, a strict regime has eliminated war by suppressing emotions. Books, art and music are strictly forbidden, and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Grammaton Cleric John Preston, who has been trained to enforce the strict laws of the new regime, is a top ranking government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules. When he misses a dose of Prozium, a mind-altering drug that hinders emotion, Preston suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.
Sounds like Labour were in charge!

Labour.org Update

Mr Draper says :

"Since we launched the beta-site just over 24 hours ago we have had many, many comments. Clearly there are those who want to use this site to interrogate Labour people (usually me!) about our policies. There is nothing wrong with that, in principle, of course"
I thought that's what these sites are for, the Conservative site allows questioning of policies.

he continues :

"Any policy will be in line with our stated policy:

"While we encourage passion and the voicing of strong opinion, if your comments are deemed to be offensive, they will be removed completely. Comments which advocate violence or those which include swearing or sexually explicit content are unlikely to pass the editorial process. In order to ensure an insightful, engaging debate we will also place other comments judged to be grossly unintelligent or obtuse or trolls in our trash can."
Fair enough but isn't calling people a "TROLL" offensive?

Here are the comments which encouraged me to try out this new approach:

John Selby
Great site Derek, well done! Sick of Tory trolls already though. Don't be afraid to take a hard line moderation policy.

rob page
something will have to be done to remove the tory trols from the site they are nothing but disruptive.

Mohammed Khan
Charlie - please don't demean yourself by responding to disruptive trolling idiots like Obnoxio. Derek - please do use your editorship to get rid of trolls. Just delete their entries and be shot of these juvenile infantile and pathetically hollow individuals. This should be a place for proper political discourse not some guido-esque playground for people with no friends, no lives and no real point to make.

To these people, and all the other people who have commented, even you trolls out there, thanks for joining us on this, our first couple of days.

Mr Draper, you are indeed an idiot. What an exciting site you are going to have. How like the government, silence what you don't want to hear, truth hurts does it?

Demonstration on Saturday

I notice that there is a National Demonstration: Saturday 10 January: Stop the Massacre : Israel Out of Gaza
Assemble 12.30pm Speakers Corner, Hyde Park, March to Israeli Embassy, London W8.

As much as I agree with peoples' rights to demonstrate and especially for a worthy cause such as this, I can't help thinking how sad it is that we don't mobilise in this way on other matters. I would have gladly come over for a mass demonstration to kick NuLabour in the political bollocks if someone had arranged it.

Marks & Spencer

Marks & Spencer and some other big companies are announcing that they are laying off staff... funny, how big successful companies' think that this course of action is the most "prudent" course of action to save their businesses when our great fuckhead leader thinks the opposite is necessary to save the country!

Misnoma of the Century

The BBC has revealed that Tony Blair is to receive an honour! You'll never guess for what? Blair is to receive the US MEDAL FOR FREEDOM!

HA!

I'm laughing so hard, I think I'm going to do something unladylike!

In the words of one of my favourite bloggers (Obnoxio) "YOU CUNT"

Let me recap :

Since 1997 NuLabour has created 3,600 new offences (nearly one for everyday they have been in power) and is still doing it.

The main ones being of course :

PROTEST AND ASSEMBLY

Protests are banned within one kilometre of Parliament Square without police permission (penalty: 51 weeks in jail and/or a £2,500 fine).

- Groups may be dispersed under antisocial-behaviour laws.
- Groups may be dispersed within designated areas under the terror laws.
- The new offence under SOCPA of trespass within a designated site (no justification for designation is required).

COMMUNICATIONS

- Under the Regulation of Investigative Powers Act, government agencies may intercept email, internet connections and standard mail without seeking a court's permission (the latest figure is 500,000 secret interceptions a year).
- Since summer 2007, the government and some 700 agencies have had access to all landline and mobile-phone records. There was no primary legislation and no debate in parliament.

DATABASES

- Without primary legislation, police introduced a national network of all ANPR cameras. The travel data may be stored for two years.

- The National Identity Register will store details of every verification made by an ID-card holder and give access to government agencies without the knowledge or consent of the private citizen.

- ID-card enrolment requires every citizen to offer up 49 piece of personal information to the national database, with heavy and repeated fines for non-compliance.

- All children details are to be stored on a central database, with access granted to a wide range of public bodies.

- The Children's Common Assessment Framework database stores all details of children with problems, indefinitely.

- The Home Office has announced that it wishes to take 19 pieces of information, including mobile-phone and credit-card numbers, from everyone travelling abroad.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION

- Public-order laws have been used to curtail free expression. A man wearing the slogan "Bollocks to Blair" on his T-shirt was told to remove it by police.
- The Race and Religious Hatred Act (2006) bans incitement of hatred on religious grounds.
- Justice Minister Jack Straw proposes new laws which would ban the incitement of hatred towards the disabled and on the grounds of a person's sexual orientation
- Terror laws are used to ban freedom of expression in designated areas. Walter Wolfgang was removed from the Labour party conference for heckling Jack Straw. People have been searched simply for wearing slogans on their T-shirts or for carrying banners. A man was detained while collecting signatures against the ID card
- The Protection from Harassment Act (1997) bans the repetition of an act. People prosecuted for repeated protest by email.

THE COURTS

- ASBO legislation introduces hearsay evidence, which may result in a person being sent to jail.
- The Criminal Justice Act (2003) allows the prosecution to make an application to be heard without a jury where there is a danger of jury tampering. This will include fraud trials.
- The admissibility of evidence concerning a person's bad character, previous convictions and acquittals.
- The Proceeds of Crime Act (2002) gives the state powers to confiscate assets in circumstances where it does not have enough evidence for prosecution.
-Special Immigration Appeals Court hearings are held in secret. Those terror suspects whose cases come before the court are not allowed to know the evidence against them or to be represented by a lawyer of their own choice.
- The Courts and Tribunals Enforcement Act abandons the tradition of an Englishman's home being his castle, which since 1604 has made breaking into a home by bailiffs illegal.

TERROR LAWS

Terror laws have been used to stop and search ordinary citizens. The current rate is 50,000 per annum.
- A maximum of 28 days without charge is allowed under terror legislation. The government has announced plans to increase this to 42 days.
- Control orders, effectively indefinite house arrest, were introduced after the Belmarsh decision.

Has the whole world gone fucking mental? What utter bollocks, what utter crap, what a fucking farce. I hope they all burn in hell!

Election last thing on Gordies mind!

The Independent is running a story today. Its no surprise that he stated he was not going to call an election this year, at least not to me. This man is a complete coward and knows full well that if he did take it to the polls, he'd be voted out by a landslide in favour of the Conservatives.

What did make me cringe was the accusation that he says the Conservatives are ""almost revelling in things going wrong" with the economy". Is he sick in the head? Who is revelling? We are not revelling Gordon, we are worried, we are concerned and we know you are making things worse. Your policies DO NOT WORK!

It makes me miserable to see my country at its knees... I hate what this government have done to it and unless things change, I will never return.

Pensioners Should Move to Scotland!

Why is it that the Scottish government has decided to keep overpaying pensioners in the wake of a blunder which dates back 30 years and not the rest of Britain?

It has cost at least £126m UK-wide and will end in April next year - except in Scotland.

The UK government has decided to stop overpaying affected pensioners. That means someone with a £10,000 pension will receive about £250 less next year than they might otherwise have expected. To be clear, this is money to which they are not entitled. They'll be allowed to keep what's been paid to them in error in previous years but the overpayment will stop. Their annual pension may still increase because it will be uprated for inflation.

I can see a large number of pensioners selling up and moving to Scotland!

Something else that entirely pisses me off!

Again this year, thousands of families will have their houses and precious possessions ruined and destroyed by floods.

Gordon promised to help families in the North last year and this year its the turn of the south. I'd love to know to know many people are still living in temporary accommodation like caravans or what the statistics are on insurance payouts (or lack thereof).

If this wasn't all bad enough, the taxman actually made a profit on these peoples' misery of almost £440million from last summer's flood damage. Householders forced to carry out repairs to their water-ravaged properties paid £525million in VAT for the work, according to figures from insurers.

Because the Government contributed only £86million to help affected areas, the Treasury netted £439million.

The TOTAL lack of care in this respect by our government for its own people is reflected in the news that we will be giving Pakistan ANOTHER 6 million quid!

What the fuck for?

Thats on top of the a £480 million support package to help them increase their security on the Afghanistan border!

Gordon should ask the Americans how many millions of dollars have been poured into Pakistan and just wasted before he starts giving away taxpayers hard earned cash to a country that is the breeding ground for terrorists (apart from the UK that is).

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7781108.stm (Ref)

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/feb/27/pakistan.usa (70% of a 5.4bn dollar military aid package mispent).

Reported here also (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/24/world/asia/24military.html).

On top of all that CNN reports that the terror suspect is now seeking legal aid!!! http://edition.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/12/13/india.mumbai.suspect/
Fucked up world we are living in.

While the rest of the UK suffers from unemployment, high energy prices, an overstretched benefits system and too many fucking people in the country, the government is languishing in spacious, luxury offices..Jack Straw.. you all know the story..

"The Ministry of Justice has been accused of wastinga "colossal" amount of taxpayers' money after spending more than £130 million refurbishing an old office block for its new headquarters."

Talk about taking the piss!
I am truly "GOBSMACKED!"

Education, Education, Education???

http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2008/dec/15/children-reform-service-society-government

"The government today outlines plans for major public service reforms to lift the aspirations of Britain's least ambitious 2.4 million children, predominantly white working-class boys in northern cities".

A deep-seated problem of low aspiration in specific communities has been found
in a Cabinet Office report to be published tomorrow. These communities, the
research shows, tend to have "more insular social networks, low population
mobility and a history of economic decline".

The report says the government has lacked a systematic "cultural or behavioural" approach to raising horizons in these communities to encourage children to do better at school and strive for more interesting jobs.

What a load of crap! If the government hadn't spent so much time, effort and money on making everyone else feel at fucking home in the UK, this wouldn't have happened in the first place!

Which leads me on to the next shambolic mess that NuLabour have created : Supersize Schools!

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/3759163/Number-of-pupils-in-largest-schools-doubles-under-Labour.html

Figures show almost 500,000 pupils were in super-sized schools last year, compared to only 230,660 in 1997.

The rest of the disturbing figures are in the article.

Everyone, but everyone knows that small schools are better. Teachers get to know their students and students feel a part of something personal and important. These mega schools are devoid of personality and attended by a multitude of kids who are just numbers and statistics for NuLabours spinbook of fairytale exam results.

I am beginning to wonder if the crap education our kids are getting is NuLabours plan for voting ignorance and mass indoctrination.

Gordon leads in Polls!

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/latest/2008/12/15/pm-takes-lead-over-cameron-in-poll-115875-20971591/

"Prime Minister Gordon Brown has established a clear lead over Conservative rival David Cameron for his handling of the economy in the wake of his £20 billion give-away in the Pre-Budget Report, according to a poll".

Either there are an awful lot of really thick people in the UK with the memories of goldfish (see above article too) or this is spin

Hopefully its the latter.

IF IT'S NOT, YOU LABOUR VOTERS DESERVE ALL THE MISERY YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET!

Labour's "dismal" lack on human rights.

"Interestingly (but not surprisingly), Lord Lester, who was brought into Gordon Browns government has resigned in disgust at what he describes as Labour's "dismal" lack of political leadership on human rights".
No shit Sherlock, I could have told him that!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2008/dec/11/human-rights-labour-gordon-brown

Are you listening Jacqui? You should destroy the DNA samples of people acquitted or not found guilty of crimes and I would rather go to prison than have one of your ID cards!!!!

NuLabour, you are a sham and an embarrassment.. time to go.. NOW!

Under the Counter Ciggies

Well, what can I say? I am astounded at the stupidity of this suggestion. This is a government that encourages drinking, gambling and gives condoms to 13 year olds but goes completely over the top on smoking and lapdancing clubs!

Any parent will tell you, the more you tell kids they're not allowed to do something, the more they're inclined to do it.. its human nature.

We are rapidly becoming a laughing stock. You would think that the government had more serious issues to address, like the country being bankrupt!

Step down Mr Brown, we don't want you in charge, you're all nuts!
