Changing the Goalposts

As talk of Greece's default grows stronger, the suffering of the Greek people should not be ignored by the rest of us. It is an example of how life could be for any country whose economy has been decimated by the EU Dictatorship (inclusive of national governments), their corrupt banking systems and greedy corporations.

In the end, it's not corporations, banks or politicians that pay the price, it's the taxpayers, it's US!

Crime has reached epidemic proportions and families that can't pay the extra property tax which is added on to their electricity bills, are being cut off. As quickly as some are being disconnected, an anonymous group of "Robin Hoods" are reconnecting supplies and locking the electricity provider box in such a way that it cannot be easily reopened  The orange-coloured cover reads : “Citizens of Veria Social Solidarity We Connect Electricity”.

Power to the People?

Ironically, the electricity company itself is owed 134 million euros by state institutions and you can bet your life, they haven't been cut off.

When you drive a population to despair, they have no alternative but to take the law into their own hands.

There is another general strike on Wednesday and the assorted government offices are being occupied by protesters trying to get their government to listen. Even the police and lawyers will be joining the protest.

The government have been ordered to lower the minimum wage yet again, leaving families worse off, unable to afford rent & food while their children go to schools with no books and patients arrive at hospitals with no drugs.

The "Troika" having been renamed “The Evil, The Bad and the Ugly” by the Greek people are insisting that more public/civil servants are laid off. Currently 20% of the working population is employed in one capacity or another by the state. Considering that the UK workforce currently totals around 29 million of which around 6 million work in the public sector, that makes our public service even larger!

Watching Greece fall apart, I can't help feeling that it could so easily be the UK. We are ALL being sucked dry by the "establishment". We are being held to ransom by our national governments who refuse to fight on our behalf.

If Greece had been allowed to default and return to the Drachma a couple of years ago, who can say what would have happened? It may have been on the road to recovery by now. For sure, things could not have been worse than they are now.

What we do know is, no matter what national governments do now, the EU is not going to let go easily. It wants it's lifeblood, it's greed will never be satisfied.

What happens when national governments don't reach their targets? Change the goalposts.

I AM TOTALLY STUNNED!

THIS IS THE EUROPEAN UNION'S IDEA OF DEMOCRACY AND EUTOPIA!

Taken word for word from KEEP TALKING GREECE (GREAT BLOG BTW)

"I’m sorry (?) to say that but I have reasons to believe Greece is not anymore a ‘state of law’ but a “state of pure absurdity’! The Machivallism unprescendeted, the amateurism exemplary! Those listening to Finance Minister E. Venizelos yesterday, those who managed to understand what he was saying about the collection of receipts for tax reductions needed lots of time to recover from the schock. In fact, they haven’t recovered yet, as it turns out that the new regulations were most probably written by somebody standing in a rest room with a scrap of toilet paper paper in one hand and a broken pencil in the other.

Venizelos said that people have to document with ‘electronic receipts’ that they have spent 50% of their income in order to meet the taxation requirements. Otherwise, there will be penalty of 10% tax to the missing amount.

That is if you have a gross yearly income of 60,000 euro, you have to spend 30,000 euro!

At the same time, receipts for utilities, mobile bills, transport etc and of course, tax payments are not recognized as ‘expenditure’! The law to be in effect soon and will be valid retrospective the whole 2011, requires that all these receipts are ‘electronical’ that is the spending is done via the so-called “smart-card”.

However, the ‘smart-card’ has not be issued yet, is expected to be in circualtion soon. Therefore taxpayers will be called to spend 50% of their annual income in the next three months until the end of the year.

Comments? I’have run out…."

The Greek people are being forced to spend 50% of their incomes and THEY HAVE TO PRODUCE RECEIPTS TO PROVE IT!!!

I'm so fucking stunned, I have no words left... just like the poor Greek Blogger above.

Green taxes to pay for EU debt

The EU hasn't learnt a thing about our attitudes towards "Global Conning" , even after the failure of the summit in Copenhagen.

They are so desperate and so skint, that very last cash rabbit they can still try and pull out of the hat is "Climate Change". That's because governments like our "coalition of federalists" are going along with it too.

These people live on "Mount Oblivious". Don't they realise we can't afford this particular con? London is about to be fined £300million by the EU because it's pollution levels have not been sufficiently lowered.

People have to run businesses and they can't all afford congestion charges or brand new vehicles. Those are things that come when business is good.

Of course, the EU have also realised that they will need a sustained "free cash inflow" to continue bailing out the failure that is the European Monster... yes, more "green" taxes to come.

Duh!

As Norton Folgate says here. Mr Woolas has suggested that our troops are in Afghanistan to stop them coming to the UK as asylum seekers.

Of course, Mr Woolas said something which caused complete uproar. "His ill-timed comments add to the growing confusion over the reasons for Britain's ongoing presence in the war-torn country.

The government has previously insisted British troops are fighting to stop terror attacks in the UK".

Yes, we've all heard that baloney. It was the next bit that that really threw me...

"And ministers have also claimed British troops are there to train local police and help Afghans build a democracy".

Excuse me? Am I missing something here? Oh yes, Afghans get the vote, we don't, do we? ......... this government should definitely get the troops out, it knows FUCKALL ABOUT BUILDING A DEMOCRACY!

Lisbon Treaty delayed again as Klaus wins Czech tussle

The crisis over the final signature on the Lisbon Treaty deepened today when the Czech Government backed away from a confrontation with the country's President, Vaclav Klaus. and instead pledged to negotiate for an 11th hour amendment on his behalf.

After an emergency Cabinet meting this morning, Jan Fischer, the Czech Prime Minister, said that he would put President Klaus's call for a human rights opt-out to the next European summit on October 29.

The climbdown represented a victory for Mr Klaus, the last man holding out on signing the treaty after its ratification in the 26 other EU states, and shows clearly that the Czech Government has no stomach for a fight with the eurosceptic economist.

The EU is UNDEMOCRATIC!!!!!

Well, I wasn´t aware of the fact that Barroso had been re-elected re-appointed as European Commission President! What happened to democracy? I´m angry at the Conservatives who supported this!
