EU, the ultimate statist thieves

Very Interesting.....

.....but they'll pretend it isn't happening!!!!!

Dan Hannan says that 26 of the European Commissioners are now illegal!!!

"As of midnight last night, the terms of 26 European Commissioners expired. Of the 27-strong college, only one, President José Manuel Durão Barroso, has been reappointed. The others, on any conceivable reading of the rules, are now occupying their posts illicitly.

Why is the EU, yet again, disregarding its own rules of procedure? Because the composition of the Commission would be altered by the European Constitution Lisbon Treaty, and Eurocrats were reluctant to go through an appointments procedure under the existing rule".

Shouldn't David Cameron be doing something about this? Isn't this the chance a Eurosceptic would jump at?

  1. MV,

How can Cameron 'jump at/on it' - he is not a Eurosceptic!

As for it being 'illegal' - since when did the EU believe in 'rules of procedure'?

The latest post by Tim Montgomerie on ConHome is, if true, no more than Tory 'spin'. Firstly any manifesto promise of 'clawing back certain powers' and 'renegotiation' depends on the agreement of the other 26 members and that is hardly likely to happen - is it? Yet another 'false' manifesto promise, similar to the Labour one on smoking and letting outlets decide whether to be 'smoking' or 'non-smoking'.

Mind you, to expect the Tory party to understand the EU is expecting too much. Witness Philip Hammond's 'blast' about the payment of benefit to Polish children in Poland. Has the idiot no understanding of EU directives to which his party has 'signed-up to' with their wish to remain a member of the EU?

And this lot want to form the next government? Christ on a crutch! Sorry to 'go on' but if the British electorate believe this latest 'load of cobblers' then they deserve all they will get!

  2. Sue, rules and laws don't matter to racketeers.

  3. They have been illegal for years; ever since their own Court Of Auditors started refusing to sign off the EU accounts. The Directors of any other body, whether private or public would have been dhwn the door a secade ago and possibly be in Gaol.

You don't suppose he ever bothered to read it, do you?

  5. I'm sick of lying, greedy, self serving politicians. I am sick of having my rights eroded. I am sick that my Freedom of Speech has been taken away.

I am sick that we do not live in a democracy anymore!

I am angry, no, I am fuming. I am beyond fuming...

  6. Too right!
It's the last straw for me: if creepy Dave wants to kiss president Blair on the back of his election then that's his business. I shall place my conservatism elsewhere.
