Gordon Brown backs free healthcare for world's poor.

"Gordon Brown has offered to help some of the world's poorest countries to make healthcare free – starting with pregnant women and children – in a push to widen access to doctors across Africa and Asia.

The Department for International Development (DfID) is among the largest donors to many developing countries, and has pledged to spend £6bn on health by 2015. Brown hopes to use an expanding aid budget to influence the way public services are delivered on the ground.

The prime minister has written to several governments, including those of Kenya, Nepal and Liberia, urging them to consider making healthcare free, and offering Britain's help with the transition. DfID said that could mean help with technical assistance, drugs and ensuring that doctors and nurses receive fair pay deals".

Government to spend £6bn on overseas healthcare by 2015 - GORDON BROWN BEING GENEROUS WITH YOUR MONEY!

Which is good and fine and dandy if we were getting great free healthcare... but.. on the other hand.....
"Patients forced to live in agony after NHS refuses to pay for painkilling injections"...

The very unaptly named "NICE" - "Specialists fear tens of thousands of people, mainly the elderly and frail, will be left to suffer excruciating levels of pain or pay as much as £500 each for private treatment.

The NHS currently issues more than 60,000 treatments of steroid injections every year. NICE said in its guidance it wants to cut this to just 3,000 treatments a year, a move which would save the NHS £33 million".

The money has been diverted to the poor in third world countries to help all those women have more babies, so fuck you old people who are suffering! (sorry, this makes me very angry, I have a personal reason for being so.... my mum suffered terrible pain before she died from M.E. and got very little help for pain relief).

  1. Sue, surely you realise Brown's doing his utmost to be seen as the leader of the world.

I completely understand your anger. Life doesn't bode well for me in my old age.

  2. Everything is being pushed by a global agenda, global this, global that. Obama wants state-funded healthcare in the States and now this. And you're right, Sue - it's all in the middle of one of the worst recessions for almost a hundred years when we're borrowing billions hand over fist and people at home are suffering. We've got OAP in England trying to survive on a pittance of a state pension. It's bloody disgraceful - excuse the french.

  3. I totally understand Sue.
I'll be brief and to the point.

    I have a daughter with M.E.
No treatment of any note for 5 years due to lack of funding.
Who the fuck does Brown think he is.
If I thought I could get away with it,
    I'd happily strangle the cu . .

  4. I'm so angry. As Subrosa says, he couldn't give a crap about the taxpayer, he's lording it on the world stage.

Our OAP's have "paid their dues", they should be living in comfort in their old age, not subsidising pregnant somali women!

Everyone in pain should have a right to pain relief, it's a fundamental right!

The righteous are great when promoting third world, illegal immigrants healthcare and animal welfare, but humans that pay taxes come last.

G.O.T., I know what you are going through and I really sympathise, we lived in desperate need of help for 20 years, until my mum died in her armchair, spent and exhausted from the pain.

I really hope Gordon Brown dies in as much agony!

  5. As mrsff is on holiday I had a bizarre conversation with our GP this week. A while ago she went to the surgery to see if she could have a varicose vein removed as it is causing her no end of pain.

It transpires that the budget for this surgery has been removed and all cases now have to go to a special panel which then assess them, without actually seeing the potential patient, and decides whether or not they need treatment.

And .. .. wasn't there another call to impose a £20 charge for patients in England to see their GP?

You think there's a jury out there that'd find you guilty...? ;)
