Meh!

I imagine that's what the majority of the country will be thinking when they tune into this evening's six o'clock news and hear that Martin Schulz has replaced Jerzy Buzek as El Presidente of the European Parliament.

Schulz is a nasty piece of work, often to be seen laughing and smirking as others speak in the EP in his role as leader of the Socialists*; he's a German replacing a Pole; he's also a bully, an arch-federalist and a shoo-in.

In 2008 he was famously compared to the Commandant of a Nazi Concentration Camp by Berlusconi and in 2010 Godfrey Bloom, a UKIP MEP, was ejected from the Chamber for calling out "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuhrer" during a Schulz speech. Compared to Schulz, Buzek was a pussy-cat.

* Full title is the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists & Democrats - the authoritarian bastards.

Here's what Nigel Farage had to say about him earlier today (and please, do click through to the other videos that pop up in the captions - you can never know too much about your enemy):

"Anti-British to his fingertips"

With thanks to Captain Ranty for the Farage video

Jolly old chap isn't he? I imagine that he'd be in demand as Santa Claus at children's parties in another life - if it weren't for his black, Spinelli heart.

UPDATE: I wouldn't normally reference Wikipedia but in this instance I am because it's interesting to see the lack of background information available on Schulz compared to other politicians.

Give Them Enough Rope

Here are some things that should be more widely known:

Goodbye Sale of Goods Act, 1979. Hello Common European Sales Law

French farmers will have to pay to use their own seeds. Can't see that going down too well but at least they won't be burning live animals in protest this time.

If you don't take a job as a prostitute, we'll stop your benefits. The result of the legalisation of prostitution in Germany.

Make good use of your water butts while you have them: Collecting and using rainwater is illegal in Utah. It's only surprising if you've never heard of Agenda 21.

BBC Financial Statement 2010-2011. See how they take the EU's shilling - and have been doing so since, at least, 1972.

Germany & France send political players to ECB Executive Board

We've certainly given them enough rope and I wonder how long that rope has to be before the Great British public decide it's long enough to do a good job.

An Anthem For The EU

Somebody has obviously never heard that "pride comes before a fall". Apparently we're supposed to be celebrating the anniversary of the euro: "A sound basis for economic progress"; "major milestones"; "courageous decisions"; "delusional waffle"; "blah-blah".
"Without the Economic and Monetary Union, the global financial crisis would have unleashed a series of devastating currency crises in Europe. The effect on economies, governments, businesses and even people's everyday lives would have been unimaginable."
Apologies for re-posting the following video, which is also cockwaffle:

I'm sure you've all seen this one, which is somewhat closer to the truth:

And this, which is only now being picked up by the msm: suicide rates increase by 40% when blogs reported it months ago. And this, also reported many months ago by bloggers, the number of homeless and the number of soup kitchens increase. Or this: Europeans migrate South.

Well done, you steam-rollering ideological europrats who have no real regard for the people you claim to represent. You're going to stop singing, one day soon and I shall be there to see it.  I hope that Beethoven's 9th Symphony is on a loop and blaring over the loudspeakers as we string you up - you and your 'little helpers'.  May the last words you hear be, "O freunde".

The Road Ahead

After Cameron's 'veto', the talk in the msm is now about Great Britain & Northern Ireland leaving the EU. Much of it is guff but, ultimately, people believe what they want to believe; they will agree with whatever makes their lives easier from a misplaced sense of hope.

The painful story of Tibet has many lessons for us. They've been resisting since 1949 and the majority of Tibetans live in refugee camps in Northern India. Only those who couldn't afford the journey or were too frail to cross the Himalayas on foot, remain behind:

Quote of the day

"We have had enough of reading of British prime ministers over the last 20 to 30 years in the days preceding a summit that 'they will stand up for the British national interest' and then coming back from a summit with a kind of Chamberlain-esque piece of paper saying, 'I have negotiated very, very hard, I have got opt-outs on this and that and I have succeeded in standing up for British interests'."

From Edward Leigh, the Conservative MP for Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

EU Headquarters on Fire!

The BBC are reporting a fire at the EU headquarters in Brussels

Now that everyone has been evacuated, I hope it burns down.

Vaclav Klaus and Irish MEP Avril Doyle

This gentleman dared to ask for a debate on the problems over European integration. He was booed and jeered at for saying "The most important task is to make sure that debate over problems is not silenced as an attack on the very idea of European integration. We have always believed that being allowed to discuss such serious issues, being heard, defending everyone's right to present a different that "the only correct opinion - no matter how much may disagree with it - is at the very core of democracy,"  The Telegraph

"Since there is no European demos - and no European nation - this defect can not be solved by strengthening the role of the European Parliament."

People even stormed out in disgust.

Is this the European Union we wanted? I can tell you it's the not the one that I envisaged. This snotty looking, stupid bitch of a woman Avril Doyle screeched and screamed "Debate is a recipe for Chaos". Avril Doyle is an MEP for Iteland. She is a typical authoritarian who wants the Irish to sign the Lisbon Treaty and just get it over with. She wants to ensure her place at the trough and her ticket on the European Gravy Train.

SNOTTY BITCH!

She disgusts me!

Just in case you feel the need to contact her and tell her how you feel. These are her details.

Expats Going Home

Many of my friends have already gone back to the UK. The last of my friends goes back next week. There are very few British families here now, most have gone home. The older generation are either trying to weather the crisis or they have no choice but to stay because they can't sell their properties.

It's getting quite dire here jobwise. It's impossible to get employment with a Spanish Company as they tend to ignore foreign applicants. They are patriotic and will only employ Spanish workers. I can't say I blame them but I do tend to think that the British Government's attitude towards fairness to foreign workers is beginning to be a unique one in Europe!
