We've all been told time and time again by "The Powers That Be" that the credit crunch is our fault. We got credit cards and took out loans for goods and services hoping we would be able to pay them back.
The EU has done the same thing. Spent money it didn't have, now it expects us to pay it's debt.

They have a point. It's true - we did. Of course, artificially low interest rates might have had something to do with it. Now, who is it sets those again? Oh, yeah, the powers that be. I don't think they want us to think that far though.
Be fair AE, cheap credit was encouraged by politicians and the banks. Debt is growth don't ya know. Our dumbed down kiddies were brainwashed to believe this was the way to get on in life.

Latest gadgets, holidays, cars it's brilliant. I feel sorry for your generation Dad, you had to sell your soul to get a mortgage and save for like years to buy anything.

ReplyDeleteMy generation (now 50+) was not so keen though, we were used to saving and then buying when we had put enough in the piggy bank.
I think the only debt we had was the mortgage and the occasional interest free credit on things like computers or TV's. Even then it was one thing at a time.
What irks me is the fact that the EU is a shining example of "Do as we say, not as we do" mentality. If they want to be taken seriously, they have to practise what they preach!
They should cut out the generous expense accounts, pro EU propaganda projects, banquets and parties. Ashton's diplomatic service is a clear waste of money!
The money that is wasted on stupid projects, squandered or pilfered alone should cover all they owe.
And what they do have is ours.
