This is clearly not a war we are going to win. The bogus reasons that our Government keep coming up with are beyond ridicule. Afghanistan is a backward, third world country, let's leave it that way!
Could someone tell Mr Brown, civilised countries lead by example.
If you don't give your own people a democracy, how can you expect to make a backward country like Afghanistan democratic?
"Prime Minister Gordon Brown describes the government of Afghanistan as "a by-word for corruption". It takes one to know one, Mr Brown!
"Sadly the Government of Afghanistan has become a by-word for corruption. And I am not prepared to put the lives of British men and women in harm's way for a government that does not stand up against corruption," Mr Brown will say. This is the bit where I'm gobsmacked except to say, GET OUR TROOPS OUT!
"I proposed that there be a new anti-corruption law, that a new anti-corruption commission be formed withn powers of investigation and prosecution, that the commission appoint an international adviser of substance, and there be new rules for the more transparent award of contracts." Why not start off a few databases in Afghanistan, Brown? An ID card system?
No doubt all charged to the British taxpayer.
Forgive me if I'm wrong but aren't we part of this big jolly club called the EU now? Why aren't we withdrawing our troops and sending an EU army in?
£1.6 bn UK Operational Cost 2007
£500m Reconstruction
93 dead more than a 100 wounded this year.
In UK since 2001, over 200 people have been convicted of terrorism (thanks to Labour's multicultural experiment and their need to piss the Tories off).
TOO HIGH A PRICE TO PAY!
PRAVDA has a good piece. (Ironic considering it's from the former Soviet Union), but it draws up some worrying comparisons.
The Pravda piece says it all. Yet still we are told it's just so wonderful. As for Afghanistan, I hope you have managed to visit my last effort, Sue.
